A method in a Maintenance Association Endpoint, MEP, (110) for controlling traffic between a first network element (23) and a second network element (24) connected by a working Traffic Engineering Service Instance, TESI, (21 ) and a protection TESI (22). The first network element sets a Traffic field (41) in a Connectivity Check Message, CCM, sent to the second network element. The Traffic field may be set by utilizing a reserved bit within a Flags field (14') of the CCM. The Traffic field indicates which TESI is being utilized to transport the traffic. The second network element takes action to control the traffic based upon a value of the Traffic field in the received CCM. When the Traffic field value in the received CCM does not match the Traffic field value in CCMs sent from the second network element for a predefined period of time, the second network element moves the traffic from its current TESI to the other TESI.

Dans un point MEP (Maintenance Association Endpoint, 110) un procédé permet de contrôler le trafic entre un premier élément réseau (23) et un second élément réseau (24) reliés par une instance TESI (Traffic Engineering Service Instance, 21) de travail et une instance TESI de protection (22). Ledit premier élément réseau établit un champ « Trafic » (41) dans un message CCM (Connectivity Check Message) envoyé audit second élément réseau. Ce champ « Trafic » peut être établi au moyen dun bit réservé dans un champ « Drapeaux » (14') du message CCM. Le champ « Trafic » indique quelle est linstance TESI utilisée pour le transport du trafic. Le second élément réseau se sert de la valeur du champ « Trafic » dans le message CCM reçu pour prendre les mesures nécessaires au contrôle du trafic. Lorsque la valeur du champ « Trafic » dans le message CCM reçu ne correspond pas à celle du champ « Trafic » dans les messages CCM envoyés par le second élément réseau pendant un laps de temps prédéfini, le second élément réseau fait passer le trafic de linstance TESI actuelle à lautre instance TESI.
