A new chemical reaction container (43) is provided which is suitable for a process plant the production of sulfuric acid according to the contact process. It comprises a cylindrical envelope surface and is divided by vertical separation walls into at least two sections usually three. Each section has an inlet and an outlet, the separation walls at their bottom parts having one or several openings for making contact possible between the different sections. The advantage of this is that both the drying of the process gas, the interpass absorption step and the final absorption step may be conducted in one and the same reactor, instead of three separate reactors as done previously. This saves both space and material. Further are provided a plant and a process for the production of sulfuric acid according to the contact process, which plant and which process comprise the above reactor container.
Nouvelle cuve (43) de réaction chimique appropriée pour une usine de production d'acide sulfurique selon le processus de contact. Ladite cuve comprend une surface cylindrique constituant une enveloppe et est divisée par des parois de séparation verticale en au moins deux parties, en général trois. Chaque partie possède un orifice d'entrée et un orifice de sortie, les parois de séparation possédant dans leur partie inférieure une ou plusieurs ouvertures permettant de rendre le contact possible entre les différentes parties. L'avantage de ce procédé est que la dessiccation du gaz produit, la phase d'absorption d'interpasse et la phase d'absorption finale peuvent être effectuées dans un seul et unique réacteur, au lieu de trois réacteurs séparés, comme cela se faisait précédemment. Ledit procédé permet d'économiser à la fois de l'espace et du matériel. Une usine et un procédé de production d'acide sulfurique selon le procédé de contact, ladite usine et ledit procédé utilisant la cuve de réaction susmentionnée, sont également décrits.
