A method and a device for curing a refractory material are provided. The device includes a mandrel having an opening therein defined by interior surfaces thereof, wherein the mandrel is dimensioned to fit within a vessel and define a gap therebetween corresponding in thickness to a predetermined thickness of a vessel refractory lining. An infrared heater is disposed within the mandrel opening and is oriented to irradiate an interior surface of the mandrel. The method for curing refractory material includes inputting a refractory material into a gap between a mandrel and a tundish, radiating infrared heat energy from a plurality of infrared heating elements toward interior surfaces of the mandrel to heat the mandrel, curing the refractory material within the gap using heat transferred to the refractory material through the mandrel to form a refractory material lining for the tundish.
L'invention concerne un procédé et un dispositif permettant de cuire un matériau réfractaire. Ce dispositif comprend un mandrin pourvu d'une ouverture définie par les surfaces intérieures dudit mandrin. Ce mandrin est dimensionné de manière qu'il puisse être logé dans un récipient et qu'il définisse un espace intermédiaire entre le récipient et lui, l'épaisseur de cet espace correspondant à une épaisseur prédéterminée d'un revêtement réfractaire de récipient. Un dispositif de chauffage à infrarouge est disposé à l'intérieur du mandrin et orienté de manière à irradier une surface intérieure du mandrin. Ledit procédé permettant de cuire un matériau réfractaire consiste à introduire ledit matériau réfractaire dans un espace situé entre le mandrin et un panier, à irradier de l'énergie infrarouge à partir d'une pluralité d'éléments de chauffage infrarouge vers les surfaces intérieures du mandrin afin de chauffer le mandrin et à cuire le matériau réfractaire dans ledit espace au moyen de la chaleur transférée sur le matériau réfractaire par le mandrin afin de former un revêtement en matériau réfractaire pour le panier.
