An automatic wheel chocking apparatus for restraining movement of a vehicle away from a loading dock during a loading operation. The apparatus comprises an elongated trough formed in the driveway that extends outwardly from the front face of the loading dock and a wheel chock is mounted in the trough for movement between a storage position, where the wheel chock is located beneath the level of a driveway, and an operative position where the chock extends upwardly above the driveway and is disposed to engage a wheel of a vehicle. The wheel chock is moved between the storage and operative positions by a drive mechanism that is located within the trough and includes a lead screw. A nut is threaded on the lead screw and is connected to the wheel chock via a rigid link. Rotation of the lead screw will move the chock between the storage and operative positions.
Appareil automatique de calage de roues conçu pour empêcher qu'un véhicule s'éloigne de la plate-forme de chargement lors d'une opération de chargement. Cet appareil comporte un creux allongé, formé dans la voie d'accès, qui se prolonge vers l'extérieur en avant de la plate-forme de chargement, une cale de roue étant montée dans ce creux où elle peut être mise en position d'entreposage, lorsqu'elle est placée sous le niveau de la voie d'accès, et en position de fonctionnement lorsqu'elle est relevée au-dessus de la voie d'accès pour être en mesure de bloquer une roue de véhicule. On fait passer cette cale de roue de la position d'entreposage à la position de fonctionnement par un mécanisme d'entraînement installé dans le creux et muni d'une vis de commande. Un écrou posé sur la vis de commande est relié à la cale de roue par l'intermédiaire d'une tige rigide. En faisant tourner la vis de commande, on déplace la cale de roue de sa position d'entreposage à sa position de fonctionnement.
