2108544 9218226 PCTABS00016 An exhaust filtering apparatus (10) for cleaning diesel exhaust has a filter cartridge (22) and a catalyst module (30) which filter exhaust and then clean the gases. The filter cartridge (22) has exhaust flow from a chamber (31) outward through the filter element (22b). The filtered gas then flows around baffles (32 and 34) and through catalyst material (40). After reacting with the catalyst material (40), the gases are expelled to the atmosphere. The filter cartridge (22) is removable and cleanable so that it may be replaced or reused. In addition, the catalyst module (30) may be removed and the catalyst material (40) regenerated so that the catalyst module may be replaced and reused.
