A device for preventing the buildup of debris on the tip of a fishing rod by removing debris from fishing line is disclosed. The device includes a first member movably mountable to the tip of the fishing rod, the first member having an aperture dimensioned and configured to permit the fishing line to pass through the aperture. A portion of the member surrounding the aperture is dimensioned and configured to strip away any debris clinging to the fishing line as the line is passed through the aperture.
