An apparatus for processing articles such as tyres that include a metal and/or fabric reinforcement (A) embedded in a rubber-based material. The apparatus comprises means (1) for continuously and sequentially disintegrating the rubber-based material (M) in order to separate it from the metal reinforcement (A) and form a powder consisting of a mixture of rubber and metal or fabric particles.
