An electrical receptacle connector assembly (4) for application to a printed circuit board consists of an insulating housing (6) and spring contacts (8) received in cavities (9) in the housing. The cavities are T-shaped having a portion that is substantially rectangular, constant cross section from a contact receiving face (12) of the housing (6) up to a position proximate to a mating face (10) of the housing and a contact retention slot (15) along one side thereof. Each spring contact (8) consists of a forward leaf contact spring (32), an intermediate retention portion (33) with retention ears (48), and a rearward contact tail (34) for soldering to a conductor on the circuit board. In each cavity (9) the retention portion (33) and a flat end portion of the leaf spring (32) lie flat against one face (24) of the cavity (9), the leaf spring being bowed towards the opposite face (26) of the cavity, with the retention ears (48) biting into surfaces of slots (15) and the contact tail (34) projecting from the contact receiving face (12) of the housing (6). The housing and the spring contacts are simple and economical to manufacture and the spring contacts are easy to load into the cavities. The contact tails can be configured for various modes of mounting the assembly on the circuit board.
Ensemble connecteur (4) de prise électrique destiné à être utilisé avec une carte à circuits imprimés, comprenant un boîtier isolant (6) et des contacts à ressort (8) logés dans des cavités (9) du boîtier. Lesdites cavités sont en forme de T et possèdent une partie sensiblement rectangulaire, de section transversale constante à partir d'une face (12) réceptrice de contacts du boîtier (6) jusqu'à une position à proximité d'une face correspondante (10) du boîtier, et une fente (15) de retenue de contact le long d'un des côtés dudit boîtier. Chaque contact à ressort (8) est constitué d'un ressort de contact (32) à lame avant, d'une partie intermédiaire de retenue (33) dotée d'oreilles de retenue (48) et d'une queue arrière de contact (34) destinée à être soudée à un conducteur sur la carte à circuits. Dans chaque cavité (9), la partie de retenue (33) et une partie terminale plane du ressort (32) à lame s'appuient contre une face (24) de la cavité (9), le ressort à lame étant courbé vers la face opposée (26) de la cavité, les oreilles de retenue (48) mordant des surfaces de fentes (15) et la queue de contact (34) faisant saillie à partir de la face (12) réceptrice de contact du boîtier (6). Ledit boîtier et les contacts à ressort sont simples et de fabrication peu onéreuse, et les contacts à ressort sont faciles à mettre en place dans les cavités. Les queues de contact peuvent être configurées pour divers modes de montage de l'ensemble sur la carte à circuits imprimés.
