The present invention relates to a method for preparing a lithium vanadium phosphate material comprising mixing water, lithium dihydrogen phosphate, V2O3 and a source of carbon to produce a first slurry; wet blending the first slurry; spray drying the wet blended slurry to form a precursor composition; milling the precursor composition to obtain a milled precursor composi-tion; compacting the milled precursor to obtain a compacted precursor; pre-baking the compacted precursor composition to obtain a precursor composition with low moisture content; and calcining the precursor composition with low moisture content at a time and temperature sufficient to produce a lithium vanadium phosphate. The lithium vanadium phosphate so produced can optionally be further milled to obtain the desired particle size. The electrochemically active lithium vanadium phosphate so produced is useful in making electrodes and batteries and more specifically is useful in producing cathode materials for electrochemical cells.
La présente invention concerne un procédé pour préparer un matériau de phosphate de lithium-vanadium comprenant le mélange d'eau, de phosphate de dihydrogène de lithium, de V2O3 et d'une source de carbone pour produire une première boue; le mélange humide de la première boue; le séchage par pulvérisation de la boue humide mélangée pour former une composition de précurseur; le broyage de la composition de précurseur pour obtenir une composition de précurseur broyée; le compactage du précurseur broyé pour obtenir un précurseur compacté; la précuisson de la composition de précurseur compacté pour obtenir une composition de précurseur avec une teneur en humidité réduite; et la calcination de la composition de précurseur avec une teneur en humidité réduite pendant une durée et à une température suffisantes pour produire un phosphate de lithium-vanadium. Le phosphate de lithium-vanadium produit de la sorte peut éventuellement être encore broyé pour obtenir la granulométrie désirée. Le phosphate de lithium-vanadium actif électrochimiquement ainsi produit est utile pour réaliser des électrodes et des batteries et plus particulièrement pour produire des matériaux de cathode pour les piles électrochimiques.
