A meltable core made of a metal alloy having a low melting temperature is used for the production of a cavity in an injection molded part and includes a hollow body having a core opening and a separately manufactured cover for the sealing of the core opening. The completely sealed meltable core obviates the further manufacturing step of closing openings in the injection molded part which were created during the molding process by die mounted plugs required for the sealing of conventional open cores, which renders the manufacture of the injection molded part faster and more economical.
