The present invention provides novel methods for treating a pulmonary disease state in mammals by up or down regulating indigenous in vivo levels of an inflammatory agent in mammalian cells comprising contacting the mammalian cells with a therapeutically effective amount of an inflammatory regulator, wherein the inflammatory agent is selected from the group consisting of cytokines, transforming growth factor-.beta., elastase, and white blood cells, and wherein the inflammatory regulator is selected from the group consisting of pyruvates and pyruvate precursors.
L'invention concerne de nouveaux procédés pour traiter un état de maladie pulmonaire chez des mammifères en régulant à la hausse ou à la baisse des niveaux in vivo indigènes d'un agent inflammatoire dans des cellules de mammifères, comprenant les étapes consistant à mettre en contact des cellules de mammifères avec une quantité thérapeutiquement efficace d'un régulateur inflammatoire, l'agent inflammatoire étant sélectionné à partir du groupe constitué des cytokines, du facteur-b de croissance transformant de l'élastase, et des globules blancs, et le régulateur inflammatoire étant sélectionné parmi le groupe constitué des pyruvates et des précurseurs de pyruvate.
