A method of forming a porcelain enamel article includes firing a porcelain enamel base over a metal substrate at a first temperature. A porcelain enamel cover coat can be fired over the base at a second temperature that is lower than the first temperature. The fired cover coat forms a preselected background color. A decal applied over the cover coat can be fired at a third temperature that is lower than the second temperature. The decal has a predetermined pattern on a carrier and has at least one open region. The carrier burns off and the predetermined pattern of the decal can form a porcelain enamel image fixed to the cover coat. The porcelain enamel image can have more than one color and the at least one open region can allow the preselected background color of the cover coat to show through and be incorporated into the image to form an identical color match in the image and the cover coat.
L'invention concerne un procédé de formation d'un article en émail vitrifié, comportant les étapes consistant à cuire une base en émail vitrifié par-dessus un substrat métallique à une première température. Un revêtement de couverture en émail vitrifié peut être cuit par-dessus la base à une deuxième température inférieure à la première température. Le revêtement de couverture cuit forme une couleur de fond présélectionnée. Une décalcomanie appliquée par-dessus le revêtement de couverture peut être cuite à une troisième température inférieure à la deuxième température. La décalcomanie est constituée d'un motif prédéterminé sur un support et présente au moins une région évidée. Le support est éliminé par combustion et le motif prédéterminé de la décalcomanie peut former une image en émail vitrifié fixée au revêtement de couverture. L'image en émail vitrifié peut comporter plus d'une couleur et la ou les régions évidées peuvent permettre à la couleur de fond présélectionnée du revêtement de couverture d'apparaître à travers l'image et d'y être incorporée pour former une correspondance de couleur identique dans l'image et le revêtement de couverture.
