The present invention relates to the field of autoimmune diseases, including rheumatoid arthritis (RA) and inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). Specifically, the invention relates to methods of treating autoimmune diseases in patients that are non- responsive or refractory over time to treatment with TNF-.alpha. antagonists and/or T-cell co-stimulation antagonists with an IL- 18 antagonist.
