A polyaxial bone screw assembly includes a threaded shank body having an upper capture structure, a head and a closed retainer ring. The external capture structure surface and retainer ring internal bore surface are both threaded for rotatable attachment within a cavity of the head. The U-shaped head defines a channel for receiving a spinal fixation rod. The head channel communicates with the cavity with a restrictive opening allowing for loading the capture structure into the head but preventing passage of the closed retainer ring out of the head. The retainer ring has an external substantially spherical surface that mates with an internal surface of the head, providing a ball joint, enabling the head to be disposed at an angle relative to the shank body. The threaded capture structure or the closed retainer structure includes a tool engagement formation and gripping surfaces for non-slip engagement by a tool.
L'invention porte sur un ensemble vis à os polyaxiale comprenant un corps de tige fileté comportant une structure de capture supérieure, une tête et un anneau de retenue fermé. La surface externe de la structure de capture et la surface de l'alésage interne de l'anneau de retenue sont toutes les deux filetées en vue d'être fixées rotatives dans une cavité de la tête. La tête comporte un support en U formant un canal destiné à recevoir une tige de fixation de la colonne vertébrale. Le canal de la tête communique avec la cavité ainsi qu'avec une ouverture restrictive qui permet de charger la structure de capture dans la tête, mais qui empêche l'anneau de retenue fermé de sortir de la tête. L'anneau de retenue présente une surface sphérique externe qui s'accouple à une surface interne de la tête, formant ainsi un joint sphérique, ce qui permet de placer la tête de sorte qu'elle forme angle par rapport au corps de la tige. La structure de capture filetée ou la structure de retenue fermée comprend des surfaces de formation et de préhension pour l'engagement d'outil de façon à engager sans glissement au moyen d'un outil d'entraînement le corps de la tige dans l'os.
