A disposable warmer cartridge is used to heat fluids to be infused to the patient to prevent hypothermia in the patient. The cartridge has in its chamber a pair of spaced in parallel electrodes that have substantially the same dimension. When RF power is fed to the electrodes, an alternating electric field is generated between the electrodes to directly heat the fluid that is in the chamber. The heating of the fluid is achieved in a substantially instantaneous manner by controlling the energization of the electrodes through the distributed impedance of the electric field between the electrodes. Heat is readily controlled by modulating the RF power fed to the electrodes. Feedback to control the temperature of the fluid in the cartridge may be provided by non-contact and direct contact sensor(s).
La présente invention concerne une cartouche de chauffage jetable utilisée pour réchauffer des fluides à être perfusés à un patient pour prévenir l'hypothermie chez le patient. La cartouche comporte dans sa chambre une paire d'électrodes espacées en parallèle ayant sensiblement la même dimension. Lorsqu'une énergie radiofréquence est alimentée aux électrodes, un champ électrique de courant alternatif est généré entre les électrodes pour réchauffer directement le fluide se trouvant dans la chambre. Le chauffage du fluide est réalisé d'une manière sensiblement instantanée grâce au contrôle de l'excitation des électrodes par l'impédance répartie du champ électrique entre les électrodes. La chaleur est facilement contrôlée par la modulation de l'énergie radiofréquence alimentée aux électrodes. Une rétroaction pour contrôler de la température du fluide dans la cartouche peut être prévue par un/des capteur(s) sans contact ou de contact direct.
