2110682 9221376 PCTABS00017 A method of inducing a CTL response in an animal which comprises administering to the animal mycobacteria transformed with at least one DNA sequence which encodes a protein or peptide or fragment or derivative thereof which includes an epitope which is recognized by cytotoxic T lymphocytes. The mycobacteria are administered in an amount effective to induce a CTL response in an animal. In one embodiment, the transforming DNA sequence may encode an HIV protein or fragment or derivative thereof.
