A device for displaying a two dimensional image to a viewer may comprise a light pattern generator (1) and a control unit (3) connected to the light pattern generator for causing the generator to produce a sequence of light patterns corresponding to respective different portions of said image. Due to the movement of the generator and the viewer's persistence of vision, the viewer sees what appears to be said two dimensional image. The generator can be incorporated in an item of apparel such as a wrist band (6) or a shoe (16). The image displayed could comprise an advertising slogan or designer label. In another embodiment, light patterns produced by a pattern generator are incident on a rotating plate and reflected via a transparent cylinder to a viewer. In yet further embodiments, the display system may comprise an LED array (110 Figure 7), (302 Figure 10) or (401 Figure 12) arranged on a bicycle wheel, yo-yo, spinning top or the like, the arrays being controlled by control means which is responsive to gravity switch (118) or radiation sensing switch (RxTx,403).
L'invention concerne un dispositif permettant d'afficher pour un utilisateur une image bidimensionnelle, lequel dispositif comprend un générateur (1) de motifs lumineux et une unité (3) de commande, reliée au générateur de motifs lumineux pour que ce dernier produise un séquence de motifs lumineux correspondant à chacune des différentes parties de l'image. Du fait du mouvement du générateur et de la persistance rétinienne de l'utilisateur, l'utilisateur voit ce qui semble être une image bidimensionnelle. Ce générateur peut être intégré dans un article tel qu'un serre-poignet (6) ou une chaussure (16). L'image affichée peut comprendre un slogan publicitaire ou une étiquette de marque. Selon un autre mode de réalisation, les motifs lumineux produits par le générateur de motifs convergent sur une plaque tournante, puis sont réfléchis via un cylindre transparent en direction de l'utilisateur. Selon d'autres modes de réalisation, le système d'affichage peut comprendre une série de diodes électroluminescentes (110) (Fig. 7), (302) (Fig. 10) ou (401) (Fig. 12) disposées sur une roue de bicyclette, un yo-yo, une toupie ou analogue, lesdites diodes étant commandées par un organe de commande réagissant à un commutateur (118) à gravité ou un commutateur (RxTx, 403) de détection de rayonnement.
