A system for monitoring the parking status of vehicles incorporating a plurality of wireless identification tags, each tag having a unique tag identifier and having association with a selected vehicle. The system also includes a portable scanner to be used by a parking monitor, the portable scanner having a processor executing instructions thereon, a tag scanner capable of reading a wireless identification tag of a selected vehicle located in relatively close proximity over a wireless link, and a communication device capable of communicating over a wireless wide area network to transmit information about vehicle parking status. A server, having a database with fields for each of the selected vehicles, communicates with the portable scanner over the wireless wide area network to log data related to vehicle parking status. A software program may also be used to facilitate communication between the scanner and the vehicle owner and/or between the scanner and a tow service.
L'invention concerne un système destiné à surveiller l'état de stationnement de véhicules incorporant une pluralité d'étiquettes d'identification sans fil, chaque étiquette possédant un identifiant d'étiquette unique et étant associée à un véhicule sélectionné. Le système comprend également un scanner portable devant être utilisé par un dispositif de surveillance de stationnement, le scanner portable présentant un processeur exécutant des instructions sur celui-ci, un scanner d'étiquette susceptible de lire une étiquette d'identification sans fil d'un véhicule sélectionné situé à une proximité relative sur une liaison sans fil, et un dispositif de communication susceptible de communiquer sur un réseau étendu sans fil pour transmettre des informations sur l'état de stationnement du véhicule. Un serveur, possédant une base de données avec des champs pour chacun des véhicules sélectionnés, communique avec le scanner portable sur le réseau étendu sans fil pour enregistrer des données liées à l'état de stationnement du véhicule. Un programme logiciel peut également être utilisé pour faciliter une communication entre le scanner et le propriétaire du véhicule et/ou entre le scanner et un service de remorquage.
