ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A device for the injection of a medical paste used in the therapeutic treatment of a patient. The paste is typically employed to enhance function of a deteriorated muscle, such as the urethral sphincter. A catheter is advanced to the point to be treated. The paste is propelled from the proximal end of the catheter to the distal end by manual force applied to pistol grip of the injector pump. A highly precise ratchet mechanism, along with an accurately positioned stop on the travel of the pistol grip, permits the attending medical personnel to deliver the exact volume of paste required. The sterile paste is held in a syringe which is readily replaceable. 08/27/90
