A tattoo mark is applied to a hog prior to sending the hog to market within a sorting cage with a weigh scale for detecting a weight of the hog and a sorting gate operated by a control unit in response to the detected weight. The mark is applied by a tattoo head having marking members thereon by which impact of the tattoo head on the skin of the hog applies a tattoo mark to the skin and a drive mechanism for driving movement of the tattoo head from a retracted position to an operating position for impacting the skin, the drive mechanism being mounted on a mounting assembly separate from and attached to the confining cage at the confining cage. The control unit is arranged, in response to the determination of a hog weight above the predetermined limit, to operate the drive mechanism to apply the tattoo head to the skin to apply the mark to the hog for market while operating the gate to release the hog to the market pen.
Selon cette invention, une marque de tatouage est appliquée sur un porc avant que ce porc ne soit envoyé au marché, dans une cage de tri avec une échelle de poids permettant de détecter le poids d'un porc et une grille de tri actionnée par une unité de commande en réponse au poids détecté. La marque est appliquée par une tête de tatouage sur laquelle sont situés des éléments de marquage. L'impact de la tête de tatouage sur la peau du porc permet d'appliquer une marque de tatouage sur cette peau. Un mécanisme d'entraînement permet le mouvement d'entraînement de la tête de tatouage d'une position rétractée en une position de fonctionnement pour entrer en contact avec la peau, ce mécanisme d'entraînement étant monté sur un ensemble de montage séparé de la cage de confinement et fixé à celle-ci. L'unité de commande est conçue pour, en réponse à la détermination du poids d'un porc comme étant supérieur à la limite prédéterminée, actionner le mécanisme d'entraînement pour appliquer la tête de tatouage sur la peau afin d'appliquer la marque sur le porc destiné au marché tout en actionnant la grille afin de libérer le porc vers le box de marché.
