Also claimed are coating compositions containing the aqueous polymer emulsion latex, processes for preparing the aqueous polymer emulsion latex wherein ethylenically unsaturated monomers are polymerized in the presence of a surfactant containing a silicon moiety and amido functionality, and substrates carrying a coating composition containing the aqueous polymer emulsion latex.
