Title: IMPROVEMENTS IN SPRAY NOZZLES Inventor: Norman D. Bowen ABSTRACT A spray nozzle for mounting on a header comprises a nozzle mounting, a nozzle ball and a nozzle ball retaining collar. The nozzle mounting contains a fluid passage for fluid communication between the interior of a header and a hemispherical nozzle ball receiving socket. The nozzle ball includes a substantially spherical body of complementary dimensions to the socket, a nozzle outlet extending from the body, and a through passage for fluid communication between the nozzle ball receiving socket and the nozzle outlet. The nozzle ball retaining collar retains the nozzle ball on the mounting and includes an internal helical thread for engaging and cooperating with an external thread provided on the mounting. The mounting includes a plurality of flexible nozzle ball retaining portions extending from the equator of the socket, and the collar includes an inner shoulder portion to deflect the nozzle ball retaining portions inwardly into contact with the nozzle ball as the collar is tightened on the body.
