1,4-diazacycloheptane derivatives of general formula (I), in which R1, R2, R3 and R4 independently represent hydrogen, a C1-4 alkyl or hydroxyalkyl group or a C2-4 dihydroxyalkyl group; X and Y independently represent hydrogen, chlorine, fluorine, a C1-4 alkyl, hydroxyalkyl, aminoalkyl or alkoxy group, a C2-4 dihydroxyalkyl group or an allyl group; and R5 and R6 independently represent hydrogen or a C1-4 alkyl group. These derivatives form outstanding developer components for hair oxidation dyes.
