The present invention contemplates a system whereby a service provider can service a large number of customers (millions) and connect them to their rented PC from millions of locations around the world. Many customers (10 to 100 thousand) can be connected simultaneously. The service provider is responsible for maintaining the latest PC Hardware and Software configurations available on the market instead of the customer. The rented PC operates in essentially the same manner as if one purchased and maintained their PC at home or office. Access to the individuals rented PC can be obtained from any existing PC, office network computer, a Web TV computer or other customer interface computer which has been authorized by the service provider. The current invention will greatly improve existing Client/Server systems being used to service large global offices. However, the greatest improvement is to make the PC much more convenient and easier for the individual to use in the future and shift the PC hardware and software update burden to the service provider.
L'invention concerne un système permettant à un fournisseur de services de desservir un grand nombre de clients (des millions) et de les relier à leur ordinateur personnel loué, à partir de millions d'emplacements situés dans le monde entier, plusieurs clients (de 10000 à 100000) pouvant être connectés simultanément. Selon l'invention, c'est le fournisseur de services -et non plus le client- qui prend en charge la maintenance des dernières configurations de logiciels et matériels informatiques disponibles sur le marché. L'ordinateur loué fonctionne exactement comme un ordinateur acheté et conservé à la maison ou au bureau, l'accès à ces ordinateurs loués pouvant s'effectuer à partir de n'importe quel ordinateur existant -ordinateur de bureau en réseau, ordinateur de télévision interactive à accès Internet, ou tout autre interface client- autorisé par le fournisseur de services. L'invention permet d'améliorer de façon importante les systèmes clients/serveurs existants et utilisés pour desservir des grandes compagnies installées dans le monde entier. Cependant, l'amélioration la plus importante consiste à rendre un ordinateur beaucoup plus pratique et facile d'utilisation, pour un client, dans le futur, et à libérer ce client de la charge de la mise à jour en matériel et logiciel informatiques, laquelle est assurée par le fournisseur de services.
