The invention provides an improved electrotransport drug delivery system for analgesic drugs, namely fentanyl and sufentanil. The fentanyl/sufentanil is provided as a water soluble salt (e.g., fentanyl hydrochloride), preferably in a hydrogel formulation, for use in an electrotransport device (10). In accordance with the present invention, a transdermal electrotransport delivered dose of fentanyl/sufentanil is provided which is sufficient to induce analgesia in (e.g., adult) human patients suffering from moderate-to-severe pain associated with major surgical procedures.
L'invention concerne un procédé amélioré d'administration de médicaments par électrotransport, en particulier d'analgésiques fentanyl et sufentanil. Le fentanyl/sufentanil est utilisé sous la forme d'un sel hydrosoluble (par exemple de chlorhydrate de fentanyl), de préférence dans un gel placé dans un dispositif d'électrotransport (10). La dose de fentanyl/sulfentanyl administrée par le procédé d'électrotransport transdermique selon l'invention est suffisante pour induire une analgésie chez des patients (par exemple chez des adultes) souffrant de douleurs moderées à aiguës provoquées par une intervention chirurgicale importante.
