An insect bait station (10) for offering a liquid insect bait to targeted insects and a method of offering liquid insect bait to targeted insects. The insect bait station (10) includes a hollow body having a base (10) and a cover (12) joined in liquid-tight relation. The base (10) has a floor (18) and the cover (12) has a stage (24) positioned generally parallel to and above the floor (18) of the base (10). The cover (12) has an ascending ramp (26), that extends upwardly from the cover rim (22) to a cover mount (28), and a descending ramps (30) that extends downwardly from the cover mount (28) to the stage (24). Interiorly facing surfaces of the floor and cover define a holding chamber wherein liquid insect bait may be confined. Spill-resistant access means provides a targeted insect located on the stage access to liquid insect bait confined within the holding chamber. Preferably, the spill-resistant access means includes a capillary liquid transport means for transporting the liquid insect bait upwardly from the floor (18) of the base (10) to a location where it is accessible to a targeted insect. The method includes the steps of providing an insect bait station made in accordance with the specification and placing it in a location frequented by the targeted insects.

Ledit système d'appât (10) pour insectes comporte un corps creux doté d'une base (10) et d'un couvercle (12) unis de manière étanche. La base (10) comporte un plancher (18) et le couvercle (12) présente un plateau (24) généralement placé parallèlement au plancher (18) de la base (10) et au-dessus de lui. Le couvercle (12) présente une rampe ascendante (26) qui s'étend vers le haut, depuis le bord (22) du couvercle jusqu'à un support (28) du couvercle et une rampe descendante (30) qui s'étend vers le bas, depuis le support (28) jusqu'au plateau (24). Les surfaces du plancher et du couvercle qui se font face intérieurement définissent une chambre de retenue dans laquelle l'appât liquide pour insectes peut être contenu. Des moyens d'accès anti-renversement permettent à un insecte ciblé se trouvant sur le plateau d'accéder à l'appât liquide pour insectes contenu dans la chambre de retenue. De préférence, lesdits moyens d'accès anti-renversement incluent des moyens de transport de liquide par capillarité pour faire monter l'appât liquide depuis le plancher (18) de la base (10) jusqu'à un endroit où il est accessible à un insecte ciblé. Le procédé comporte les étapes consistant à produire un système d'appât pour insectes fait selon la présente spécification, et à le placer à un endroit fréquenté par les insectes ciblés.
