The present invention relates to a method for the preparation of a medical device element by means of extrusion or injection moulding and to medical devices comprising such extruded or injection moulded medical device elements. The medical device elements (e.g. tubes, wires, lines, stents, catheters, guides, endodontic instruments, needles, trocars for e.g. laparoscopic surgery, laparoscopic accessories, surgical instruments, guide wires) are characterized by a prefabricated shaped article or a thermoplastic substrate polymer having thereon a layer of a covalently cross-linked coating composition of a thermoplastic matrix polymer and a hydrophilic polymer. The method involves a coating composition comprising a thermoplastic matrix polymer, a hydrophilic polymer, and one or more photo-initiator(s), e.g. covalently linked to molecules of the thermoplastic matrix polymer and/or to molecules of the hydrophilic polymer. The coating composition is irradiated with UV or visible light so as to covalently cross-link said coating composition.
La présente invention concerne un procédé de préparation d'un élément de dispositif médical par extrusion ou moulage par injection, ainsi que des dispositifs médicaux comprenant de tels éléments de dispositifs médicaux extrudés ou moulés par injection. Les éléments de dispositifs médicaux (par exemple, des tubes, des câbles, des conduits, des stents, des cathéters, des guides, des instruments endodontiques, des aiguilles, des trocarts pour chirurgie laparoscopique, par exemple, des accessoires laparoscopiques, des instruments chirurgicaux, des câbles de guidage) sont caractérisés par un article mis en forme et préfabriqué ou par un polymère de substrat thermoplastique sur lequel est appliquée une couche d'une composition de revêtement réticulée de manière covalente comprenant un polymère de matrice thermoplastique et un polymère hydrophile. Le procédé fait appel à une composition de revêtement comprenant un polymère de matrice thermoplastique, un polymère hydrophile, et un ou plusieurs photo-initiateurs, par exemple liés de manière covalente aux molécules du polymère de matrice thermoplastique et/ou aux molécules du polymère hydrophile. La composition de revêtement est irradiée par des UV ou par la lumière visible de manière à réticuler de façon covalente ladite composition de revêtement.
