A stent delivery system (10) with a catheter (11) has an axially extending inner core (14) and outer sheath (24), axially spaced rings (23) extending from a relatively narrow diameter portion (17) of the inner core proximate the dital end thereof. The rings engage proximal portions of a compacted stent (20) disposed within the sheath and over the core and rings. A proximal handle of the system has a first portion (25) that supports the sheath and a second portion (26) that supports the core for relative displacement of the core and the sheath. Retraction of the sheath relative to the core uncovers the stent engaged by the rings which tends to remain stationary relative to the core so that upon partial retraction of the sheath a distal end of the stent expands to its expanded form. Further retraction of the sheath deploys the stent, retracting the core returns the distal portion of the stent into the sheath.
Un système (10) d'introduction d'une prothèse de support au moyen d'un cathéter (11) a un noyau interne (14) s'étendant axialement et une gaine externe (24). Des anneaux (23) espacés axialement partent d'une portion à diamètre relativement étroit (17) du noyau interne, près de son extrémité distale. Les anneaux s'engagent avec les portions proximales d'une prothèse compacte (20) placée dans la gaine et entourant le noyau et les anneaux. Une poignée proximale du système a une première portion (25) qui supporte la gaine et une seconde portion (26) qui supporte le noyau pour un déplacement relatif du noyau et de la gaine. Le retrait de la gaine par rapport au noyau découvre la prothèse engagée par les anneaux et qui tend à rester stationnaire par rapport au noyau, si bien que lors d'un retrait partiel de la gaine, une extrémité distale de la prothèse se détend et prend sa forme expansée. La poursuite du retrait de la gaine permet de déployer la prothèse et le retrait du noyau provoque le retour de la portion distale de la prothèse dans la gaine.
