An exercise apparatus such as a treadmill comprising a display (12), a display controller (11), and a user input (13), operably in communication with one another to enable the user to interact with prompts on the display, wherein the display controller (11) comprises a processor programmed to drive the display, and a memory for storing labelled screen objects representative of an image, such an alpha-numeric string, word or logo, for presentation on the display such that a screen object is selectable from the memory by the controller (11) using the label hence enabling display of the image. The visual image of screen object can be changed, for example to enable use of different languages, whilst still retaining the same label for the screen object and hence the same processor program to drive the display. For example, the word "calories" in English can be changed to "Kalorien" in German, or "time" to "heure" in French, by changing the image data for a labelled screen object.
L'invention concerne un appareil d'exercice tel qu'un tapis roulant, cet appareil comprenant un dispositif d'affichage (12), un contrôleur d'affichage (11), et un dispositif d'entrée utilisateur (13), ces éléments étant en communication opérationnelle les uns avec les autres de manière à permettre à l'utilisateur d'interagir grâce à des messages de guidage apparaissant sur le dispositif d'affichage. Le contrôleur d'affichage (11) renferme un processeur programmé pour entraîner le dispositif d'affichage, et une mémoire pour stocker les objets étiquetés qui s'affichent sur l'écran pour représenter une image, par exemple une chaîne, un mot, ou un logo alphanumérique, ces objets étant destinés à être représentés sur le dispositif d'affichage de sorte que le contrôleur (11) peut choisir dans la mémoire un objet à l'écran grâce à son étiquette, ce qui permet à l'image de s'afficher. L'image visuelle de cet objet à l'écran peut être modifiée, notamment pour permettre l'utilisation de différentes langues tout en conservant la même étiquette pour ledit objet à l'écran, et donc le même programme de processeur pour commander le dispositif d'affichage. Ainsi, le mot anglais "calories" peut devenir "Kalorien" en allemand, et le mot "time" être changé en "heure" en français, grâce à une modification des données images à partir d'un object à l'écran étiqueté.
