A sliding door operating mechanism for a vehicle to provide access to the vehicle through an opening in a wall thereof, includes at least one sliding door and reciprocating power means and transmission means for transmitting movement of the power means to the door for performing opening, closing and locking movements thereof. A beam structure carries the door, the power means and the transmission means. The beam structure extends across and is accommodated within an upper portion of the opening so as to be slidingly movably driven by the power means between a relatively retracted position within the opening, in which the door is located in a first plane in a closed position confined within the opening, and a relatively less retracted position, in which the door is located in a second plane exteriorly of the opening allowing movement of the door means along the second plane.
L'invention porte sur un mécanisme d'ouverture et de fermeture d'une portière coulissante utilisé dans un véhicule afin de donner l'accès au véhicule à travers une ouverture dans la paroi de celui-ci. Le mécanisme comprend au moins une portière coulissante et un organe de puissance alternatif ainsi qu'un organe de transmission destiné à transmettre le mouvement de l'organe de puissance à la portière afin d'assurer son ouverture, sa fermeture et son verrouillage. Une structure de poutre étaye la portière, l'organe de puissance et l'organe de transmission. Ladite structure s'étend sur une partie supérieure de l'ouverture et est logée à l'intérieur de manière à pouvoir coulisser, commandée par l'organe de puissance entre une position relativement rétractée à l'intérieur de l'ouverture, dans laquelle la portière se trouve sur un premier plan dans une position fermée confinée à l'intérieur de l'ouverture, et une position relativement moins rétractée, dans laquelle la portière se trouve sur un second plan à l'extérieur de l'ouverture permettant le mouvement de l'organe de portière qui coulisse le long du second plan.
