A liquid-cooled battery with at least two fuel cells (1) which both contain a negative pole flange, a membrane-electrode unit and a positive pole flange, which are interconnected by a frame element in a mechanically rigid, gastight and electronically insulating way. The battery is submerged in a cooling bath (9, 10).
