A method of and system for detecting the possible fraudulent use of a telecommunications network involves applying rule-based criteria to generate a plurality of fraud alarms, each corresponding to an individual rule. Each alarm is associated with a particular customer, and for each individual customer a note is made of the total alarms generated by that customer and the grouping of individual alarm types generated. The customer's call is then determined to be fraudulent or otherwise based upon prior experience of past customers who have generated that particular profile of alarm grouping and total number of alarms. The system automatically outputs a list of potentially fraudulent customers, the accounts of which may either be further investigated or may automatically be inhibited.
L'invention porte sur un procédé et un système de détection des possibles utilisations frauduleuses d'un réseau de télécommunications consistant à appliquer des critères à base de règles pour déclencher un ensemble d'alarmes signalant les fraudes correspondant chacune à une règle distincte. Chacune des alarmes est associée à un client particulier, et pour chaque client séparé, on établit un relevé du total des alarmes provoquées par ledit client puis un groupement par type d'alarme. Les communications de ce client sont alors reconnues directement comme étant frauduleuses, ou alors en se basant sur l'expérience préalable de clients antérieurs, ayant provoqué un groupement d'alarmes de ce profil particulier, et sur le nombre total d'alarmes. Le système produit automatiquement une liste de clients potentiellement fraudeurs dont les décomptes peuvent être soumis à un nouvel examen détaillé, ou automatiquement résiliés.
