The invention relates to improved polyurethane ionomers and methods for making the same. It was found that the polyurethane anionomers obtained by using the method of the invention had improved physical properties than those made by conventional methods. For example, the polyurethane ionomers produced by the method of the invention exhibit a plateau in the plot of elasticity modulus (as log10E') vs. temperature over a useful and relatively broad temperature and frequency range. The polyurethane ionomers have nearly temperature- independent elasticity over a 50~C range in the region of ~ -20 to +75~C. Another advantage is that the polyurethane ionomers of the invention are optically clearer than the conventionally prepared polyurethane ionomers. A further advantage of the invention is that the synthetic process of making the polyurethane ionomers is much faster than the known process for equivalent compositions. Additionally, striking tensile strength properties were observed for the polyurethane ionomers.
La présente invention concerne des ionomères de polyuréthanne améliorés et des procédés de préparation de ces derniers. On a remarqué que les anionomères de polyuréthanne obtenus au moyen du procédé selon l'invention présentent des propriétés physiques améliorées, supérieures à celles obtenues à l'aide des procédés classiques. Par exemple, les ionomères de polyuréthanne produits par le procédé selon l'invention présentent un plateau, dans la courbe du module d'élasticité (tel que log¿10?E') par rapport à la température sur une plage de 50 ·C dans la région comprise entre environ 20 et +75 ·C. Un autre avantage est lié au fait que les ionomères de polyuréthanne selon l'invention sont optiquement plus transparents que les ionomères de polyuréthanne préparés de manière classique. Un autre avantage de la présente invention repose sur le fait que le processus de synthèse de production des ionomères de polyuréthanne est beaucoup plus rapide que le processus connu, pour des compositions équivalentes. De plus, on a observé pour les ionomères de polyuréthanne, des propriétés frappantes de résistance à la traction.
