-14- ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE The object of the invention is a grading apparatus for forward or rearward attachment to the attachment frame of a drive vehicle used to prepare cross-country trails, ski runs or snowmobile trails, as well as the roughening or digging up of compacted snow and ice on foot paths, travelways or hiking trails, including a bracket construction pivotal about a horizontal axis extending transversely to the travel direction, with a forward support, and a cutting apparatus for ripping up and/or crushing the groundcover of snow or ice, wherein a rearward support is provided for the bracket construction. In the grading apparatus according to the invention, the bracket construction is connected to the attachment frame or a cross beam in such a way that the drive vehicle itself provides the rear support for the bracket construction.
