The combination of a power toothbrush and an oral fluid, in which the oral fluid has the characteristic of changing viscosity, depending upon the action of a workpiece element portion, such as a flexible membrane, of the power toothbrush. The power toothbrush has two operating conditions. In one condition, the membrane moves toward and away from the teeth at a speed such that the fluid is liquid and flows easily to and around the teeth, including the interproximal regions. In the second condition, the membrane is moved at a significantly higher speed, in response to which the viscosity of the fluid increases substantially, having a shear rate at least as great as necessary to remove biofilm from the teeth.

L'invention concerne la combinaison d'une brosse à dents électrique et d'un fluide oral présentant la caractéristique de pouvoir changer de viscosité, en fonction de l'action d'une partie d'un élément, de type membrane flexible, de la brosse à dents électrique. Ladite brosse à dents électrique fonctionne selon deux modes d'actionnement. Dans un mode, la membrane se déplace vers les dents et s'éloignent de celles-ci à une vitesse selon laquelle le fluide est liquide et coule facilement sur et autour des dents, y compris dans les régions interproximales. Dans le deuxième mode, la membrane est déplacée à une vitesse significativement supérieure, la viscosité du fluide étant ainsi sensiblement augmentée et présentant un taux de cisaillement aussi élevé que nécessaire pour éliminer la plaque dentaire sur les dents.
