A metal domestic door with an improved construction is provided especially for resistance to rot from humidity or deterioration. The metal door includes two metal sheets spaced apart by an elongate continuous edge spacer forming each edge of the door. The edge spacer is extruded from a foam PVC and has a generally rectangular cross-section having the corners stepped to form two pair of notches differently at opposed sides such that, when the edge spacer is utilized as a handle side edge of the door, bent edges of the metal sheets are accommodated within one pair of notches at one side and flush with the exposed surface, and when the edge spacer is utilized as a hinge side of the door, the exposed surface projects outwardly from the bent edges of the metal sheets accommodated within the other pair of notches at the other side, adapted for material removal to receive hinge plates or to be trimmed if it is needed.
