A baffle system for use in a clarifier tank having a tank bottom, a periphery and a substantially vertical peripheral wall bounding the interior of the tank is formed by a plurality of individual and cooperatively-engageable baffles mounted on the peripheral tank wall. Each baffle includes a panel member that downwardly slopes from the peripheral tank wall toward the interior of the tank and the tank bottom and terminates at a lower ledge disposed in spaced relation above the tank bottom. A first lateral end of the panel member unitarily carries an end bracket securable to the peripheral wall for supporting the panel member in a cantilevered fashion. The plural baffles are disposed in end-to-end relation about the peripheral tank wall such that the second lateral end of the panel member of each baffle is secured to the end bracket of the next-adjacent baffle whereby each end bracket supports the panel members of each set of two immediately-adjacent baffles on the peripheral wall. The resulting baffle system provides a smoothly continuous, inwardly and downwardly sloping surface along which solids precipitated from the liquid-solid suspension contained in the clarifier tank are gravitationally-directed to the tank bottom.
Système de chicanes utilisées dans un réservoir de clarificateur délimité par un fond, une périphérie et une paroi essentiellement verticale. Le système de chicanes se compose d'une série de chicanes individuelles s'emboîtant les unes dans les autres et montées sur la paroi périphérique du réservoir. Chaque chicane est constituée d'un panneau incliné vers le bas et dirigé vers l'intérieur et le fond du réservoir à partir de la paroi de ce dernier, le panneau se terminant à un épaulement inférieur placé à une certaine distance du fond du réservoir. Un premier bord latéral d'un panneau supporte, de façon à ne former qu'une seule unité, une fixation d'extrémité qui se fixe sur la paroi en vue de supporter le panneau sans aucun autre appui. Les chicanes sont disposées de bout en bout sur la paroi du réservoir, de manière que le second bord latéral du panneau de chaque chicane soit ancré à la fixation d'extrémité de la chicane voisine et que chaque fixation d'extrémité supporte, sur la paroi, les panneaux de deux chicanes immédiatement contiguës. Le présent système de chicanes forme une surface continue, lisse et inclinée vers l'intérieur et le bas, le long de laquelle les matières solides précipitées provenant de la suspension liquide-solide circulant dans le réservoir du clarificateur sont entraînées par gravité vers le fond du réservoir.
