Interactive communication and transport system in which communication for the purpose of requests takes place between requesting receiving stations (B) and one or more request-processing transmitting stations (A) provided with a source (1-4) of information of separately specifiable bulk data via a relatively low-speed communication path in a first network (6), and the forwarding of the requested bulk data to receiving stations (B) specified in the requests by transmitting means (14-17) takes place in a packet-switched mode via a relatively high-speed transmission path in a second network (10). Supervisor means incorporated in the system assign temporary destination addresses to the receiving stations (B) for the forwarding and grant permission for forwarding to the transmitting workstations (A) on request; the actual forwarding takes place after a respective transmitting station (A) which has received permission has detected by means of 'end of packet' -detection means (18) that transmission of a previous packet has been completed. Advantages are that the data channel along which the picture data is transported is used more efficiently and that one-off forwarding of picture data to a group of destinations is possible both on request and dynamically from the system.
L'invention est un système de communication et de transmission interactif dans lequel la communication pour fins de transmission de demandes a lieu entre des stations de réception demanderesses (B) et une ou plusieurs stations de transmission de traitement de demandes (A) dotées d'une source (1-4) d'informations constituées de données en masses spécifiables séparément accessibles via un trajet de communication relativement lent dans un premier réseau (6), et la transmission des données en masses demandée aux stations réceptrices (B) spécifiées dans les demandes par les dispositifs de transmission (14-17) se fait en mode de commutation de paquets via un trajet de transmission relativement rapide dans un second réseau (10). Un dispositif de surveillance incorporé au système affecte des adresses de destination temporaires aux stations réceptrices (B) pour autoriser sur demande les postes de travail de transmission à procéder à une transmission; la transmission se fait quand une station de transmission (A) qui a été autorisée à procéder à la transmission a vérifié à l'aide d'un détecteur de fin de paquet (18) que la transmission du paquet précédent est terminée. Les avantages de l'invention sont que le canal utilisé pour la transmission des données d'imagerie est utilisé plus efficacement et que la transmission des données d'imagerie en tout ou rien à un groupe de destinations est possible soit sur demande, soit en mode dynamique du système.
