The present invention relates to purified extracts from Neem leaves. The extracts inhibit the adhesion of infectious cells and cancer cells to endothelial cells, and are thus useful for the treatment of a variety of diseases including malaria and cancer. The extracts also inhibit viruses, and malaria parasites in both the asexual and sexual forms. The invention also relates to a method of extraction, and pharmaceutical preparations containing the purified extracts.
