A system and method for substantially reducing average transmit power by omitting the transmission of a majority of pulses by using a modified run length coding to reduce signal power. By lowering the average power, an opportunity is presented to either decrease the total power drawn by the transmitter (battery life) or raise the peak power of all symbols (Eb/No), thereby increasing range of a RF transmission system.

L'invention porte sur un système et un procédé pour réduire sensiblement la puissance d'émission moyenne par omission de l'émission d'une majorité d'impulsions par utilisation d'un codage des répétitions modifié pour réduire la puissance du signal. Par réduction de la puissance moyenne, une opportunité est présentée pour soit réduire la puissance totale absorbée par l'émetteur (durée de vie de batterie) soit augmenter la puissance de crête de tous les symboles (Eb/No), augmentant ainsi la portée d'un système de transmission RF.
