ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE: The invention relates to an aqueous cleaning composition for metal surfaces, wherein said composition has a pH value above 7 and comprises, in association with water, acyclic di- and/or oligoazaalkane having 2 to 12 nitrogen atoms in the molecule, preferably up to 5 nitrogen atoms, and a non-soap surfactant having more than 12 carbon atoms. In the oligoazaalkane, each carbon atom is bound to up to 1 nitrogen atom. The cleaning composition suitably contains from 0.05 to 10 g/liter di- and/or oligoazaalkane and may additionally contains builder substance and/or anionic and/or nonionic surfactant. The invention also relates to a spraying method using this new composition.
