The present invention discloses novel catalysts for treating automobile exhaust that have increased resistance to poisoning from oil- and/or fuel- derived additives, hi the catalysts of this invention, the catalytic materials are not coated onto a front-end poison capture zone of the support that carries the catalytic layers. Since poisonous elements tend to deposit on the upstream end of the catalyst, such poisons do not inactivate any of the catalytic materials.

L'invention concerne de nouveaux catalyseurs pour traiter des échappements automobiles. Ces catalyseurs présentent une résistance accrue à l'empoisonnement provenant d'additifs dévirés de pétrole et/ou de carburant. Dans les catalyseurs de l'invention, les matières catalytiques ne sont pas enrobées sur une zone de capture de poison d'extrémité avant du support qui porte les couches catalytiques. Puisque les éléments toxiques tendent à se déposer sur l'extrémité amont du catalyseur, de tels poisons n'inactivent aucune matière catalytique.
