This invention provides a method and apparatus for the sensing of moisture using microwave technolgy. The apparatus provides a wave guide having a linear array of slots in its broadwell. A detector detects microwave reflection coefficients at the slots once the material is positioned over said slots to provide a value for the moisture content of the material. These slots are at an angle with respect to the longitudinal axis of the wave guide and the angle can be varied according to the material being tested.

Cette invention concerne un procédé et un appareil de détection de l'humidité faisant appel à la technique des micro-ondes. Cet appareil comprend un guide d'ondes comportant un réseau linéaire de fentes dans sa paroi la plus large. Après que l'on ait déposé un matériau sur les fentes, un détecteur va mesurer les coefficients de réflexion des micro-ondes au niveau desdites fentes de manière à obtenir une valeur correspondant au contenu en humidité de ce matériau. Ces fentes sont disposées selon un angle prédéterminé par rapport à l'axe longitudinal du guide d'onde, cet angle pouvant varier en fonction du matériau devant être testé.
