Well casing assembly (20) for use in oil and gas wells, and especially deviated or horizontal wells, has an inner pipe member (22) with threaded ends (22') which permit a number of casing assemblies to be joined in a string. The inner pipe (22) has a serie of perforations (40) along a segment (42) of its length which are covered by an elongated screen member (64) which prevents the passage of sand particles. A concentric outer protective cover member (24) is devoid of perforations (50) in regions which are radially opposite the inner screen (64) to prevent damage to the screen. One or more perforated segments (52, 52') of the outer member (24) are axially spaced from the screen member (64) so that inward flow from a formation will have its energy and velocity reduced before it reaches the screen, thereby minimizing erosion of the screen surface. If desired, perforated flow control devices such as annular rings (82) can be located between the inner pipe (22) and outer member (24) at the ends of the screen segment to allow a more uniform flow to the screen, and thus further reduce erosion.

L'invention porte sur un ensemble (20) de tubage destiné à être utilisé dans les puits de pétrole et de gaz, et notamment sur des puits déviés ou horizontaux. Cet ensemble comporte un élément (22) de tuyau interne aux extrémités filetées (22') qui permettent d'assembler une certaine quantité d'ensembles de tubage dans une colonne de tubage. Le tuyau interne (22) comporte sur un segment (42) une série de perforations (40) qui sont recouvertes d'un élément de filtration (64) allongé empêchant le passage de particules de sable. Un élément de recouvrement (24) protecteur, externe, concentrique est dépourvu de perforations (50) dans les régions qui sont radialement opposées au filtre interne (64) pour éviter d'endommager le filtre. Un ou plusieurs segments perforés (52, 52') de l'élément externe (24) sont espacés axialement de l'élément de filtration (64) de sorte que la puissance et la vitesse du flux, se dirigeant vers l'intérieur et provenant d'une formation, soient réduites avant que celui-ci atteigne le filtre, ce qui réduit l'érosion de la surface du filtre. Eventuellement, des dispositifs perforés de régulation du flux tels que des anneaux (82) peuvent être placés entre le tuyau interne (22) et l'élément externe (24), aux extrémités du segment du filtre, de façon à obtenir un flux plus régulier en direction du filtre et à réduire également l'érosion.
