ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE The invention relates to an apparatus and a method for the production of thin wall tubes of rubber and/or plastic compositions through extrusion and drawing, with the constant introduction of powder- loaded air into the interior of the tube and, after deposit of the greater part of the powder on the inner wall of the tube, then withdrawn. It is the object of the invention to hold the dimensions of the extruded tube blank constant over long periods of operation and thereby, on the one hand, to save material and, on the other hand to improve the quality of the tube produced. The invention consists therein, that the tube-form, air-filled extrudant behind the drawing device in the region of a width measuring device is led through forming rollers, and that the output of the width measuring device is connected with a device for controlling the amount of material extruded and/or the air pressure in the tube and/or the rate of withdrawal of the tube blank from the extruder. Moreover, downstream of the drawing device, the tube blank passes over a scale for weighing a given length of the tube blank, the weight is compared with a -19- desired weight and any deviation is used to control the drawing device and/or the rate of rotation of the extruder screw to keep the weight per unit length constant. -20-
