The invention relates to a cost effective protective device for safeguarding an electrical device against overcurrent. The preferred exemplary embodiment is a conductor track fuse that is arranged in a hollow body. According to the invention, the hollow body has an opening (8) that specifically allows metal vapor to escape upon tripping of the fuse. This prevents the production of an electric arc.
