A papermaking belt (90) comprises a reinforcing element (50) and a resinous framework (300) joined together. The resinous framework (300) is formed by a plurality of resinous beads (110) which mutually contact or cross-over. Super-knuckles (160) extending outwardly from the reinforcing element (50) are formed at points of contact. A preferred continuous process for making the belt comprises extruding, in a pre-selected pattern, a plurality of beads (110) of a resinous material onto the forming surface thereby forming the resinous framework (300) thereon, joining the resinous framework (300) and the reinforcing element (50) together, and then solidifying the resinous framework (300). The resinous material may comprise at least two chemically-active materials capable of cross-linking upon contact.
