A method is provided for screening a subject for hepatocellular carcinoma by determining the level of glypican-3 (GPC3) in a body fluid sample from the subject. A further method is provided for diagnosing hepatocellular carcinoma by detecting GPC3 in a liver tissue sample. Also provided are antibodies which bind specifically to GPC3.

L'invention concerne un procédé de criblage pour recherche de carcinome hépatocellulaire chez un sujet consistant à déterminer le niveau de glypican-3 (GPC3) dans un échantillon de liquide corporel du sujet. Elle concerne aussi un autre procédé de diagnostic de carcinome hépatocellulaire consistant à détecter GPC3 dans un échantillon de tissu hépatique. Elle concerne enfin des anticorps qui se lient spécifiquement à GPC3.
