Compounds useful for inducing apoptosis in proliferate cells, particularly cancer cells, including but not limited to prostate cancer, leukemia, non- small cell lung cancer, colon cancer, CNS cancer, melanoma, ovarian cancer, renal cancer, bladder cancer, lymphoma, and breast cancer. These compounds are particularly useful in the treatment of androgen-independent cancers, including hormone-refractory prostate cancer. Further provided are methods of treating cancer in a subject in need of such treatment using the compounds of the present invention. Further provided are methods for using the compounds of the present invention to treat, inhibit, or delay the onset of cancer in a subject. Further provided are methods of inducing apoptosis in rapidly proliferating cells, particularly, though not necessarily cancer cells, using the compounds of the present invention.
Cette invention concerne des composés permettant d'induire une apoptose dans des cellules proliférantes, en particulier des cellules cancéreuses, concernant notamment, mais pas uniquement le cancer de la prostate, la leucémie, le cancer du poumon non à petites cellules, le cancer du colon, le cancer du système nerveux central, le mélanome, le cancer des ovaires, le cancer du rein, le cancer de la vessie, le lymphome et le cancer du sein. Ces composés conviennent particulièrement bien pour le traitement de cancers androgèno-indépendants, dont le cancer de la prostate réfractaire aux hormones. Sont également décrites des méthodes de traitement du cancer chez un sujet à l'aide des composés de l'invention chez un sujet nécessitant un tel traitement. L'invention concerne également des méthodes d'utilisation desdits composés dans le but de traiter ou d'inhiber un cancer chez un sujet, ou d'en retarder l'apparition. Cette invention porte en outre sur des méthodes propres à provoquer une apoptose chez des cellules à prolifération rapide, en particulier, mais pas forcément des cellules cancéreuses, faisant intervenir les composés de l'invention.
