Biological denitrification of water using one or more bioreactor units containing bioreactor media (28, 32), a prefilter assembly containing media (78), and a slow sand filter (114, 118). Water flow related values, the bioreactor media and the air scouring process in the bioreactors are controlled to specific values. The prefilter includes a flow distribution device. The prefilter and slow sand filters may be semi-portable, allowing them to be made at a remote location and transported to the site.

L'invention concerne la dénitrification biologique de l'eau à l'aide d'un ou de plusieurs bioréacteurs contenant des milieux bioréactifs (28, 32), un ensemble pré-filtre renfermant des milieux (78), et un filtre à sable lent (114, 118). Certaines valeurs liées à l'écoulement de l'eau, les milieux bioréactifs et le processus de lavage à l'air dans les bioréacteurs sont contrôlés en fonction de valeurs spécifiques. Le pré-filtre comprend un dispositif de répartition d'écoulement.
